Frequently Asked Questions

We answer your most common questions

How can I get a garden bed?

Currently no beds are available.  We do have a waitlist.  Email Lewes Community Garden and ask to be placed on our waitlist.  See below for more information about the selection process.

What is the cost?

The cost is $75 per year for a 4 x 8 bed.  Financial assistance is available if needed.

What is the selection process?

  1. In January and February, we contact our waitlist to see if you are still interested.

  2. Everyone is invited to attend an "information session" which explains everything.

  3. If there are more people interested than beds available we have a lottery.

What can I do to sustain the garden?

We are a completely volunteer run organization.  Everyone needs to help.  Participating in fall and spring workdays is expected.  Our committees meet all year long.

What about organic gardening?

This is an organic community garden.  We have lots of information to help you.  However, you must agree to use organic gardening practices only.

Can I help without having a bed?

We have volunteers who help with garden tasks "inside" and "outside" the fence.  Outside the fence we are working on native plants habitats, pollinator gardens and more.  Email Lewes Community Garden to let us know your interests.
